Where to find free Wi-Fi for your Apple iPhone

One of the best features of the Apple iPhone is that you can use it”s built in wifi capability to connect to the internet. There are many places, like Starbucks, that charge for wifi but there are an ever increasing number of places that have free wifi for iPhone use. The classic business person”s hangouts, such as hotel lobbies and airports, have long had wifi for the laptop owners, but as more and more people start carrying mini computers, such as the Apple iPhone and other smart phones and internet phones, with them there will be an increasing demand from other sectors for the availability of iPhone wifi free.
Lately there has been a surging and then failed attempt to have free wifi in several cities. So far all of the bugs of funding and such have not been worked out.

A new type of free wireless site is springing up lately. These sites use advertising to pay for the free wireless they provide. Anchorfree, a company in CA, has a set up that lets stores and restaurants setup free wireless on an ad supported system or allows them to pay for the wireless wifi service and then collect half of the ad revenues.

There are also “paid free wifi clubs” you can join, the most notable being boingo.com. You pay a monthly fee and get unlimited free wifi access at their partner locations, which according to their site. Currently Boingo is offering free trial service to iPhone users. Boingo.com has a lot of sites for travelers in hotels and airports. Currently they charge $8 a month which seems pretty reasonable for over 100,000 spots if you are a frequent traveler.
